Looking at getting a used car, and also looking at getting a replacement car stereo. If I do, the one I'm looking at has no CD player. Last New Year was my flag day for compact discs. I have lots but won't buy more, except for maybe Jayhawks, so why get a CD player when I'll just rip and play through my phone or something?

Have I already mentioned the new G+ page for "Perl"? It probably won't have a lot of content, it just allows you to show your support to the Perl programming language.

Put in your circle and spread the word!

+Tim O'Reilly is getting sucked into a Google+ Diet.

Publishing genius Tim O'Reilly is gradually becoming enamored of a varient of the Google+ Diet.

In fact, his Twitter feed recently shows a newfound appreciation for using Twitter as a way to link his massive Twitter following over to Google+ for a real conversation: http://twitter.com/#!/timoreilly

He's also been talking about how Google+ is now his primary blogging platform, and more important than his own blog.

Here are some nuggets he's Tweeted recently:

"How G+ is changing my habits: I keep seeing tweets I like and wanting to +1 them. 'Favorite' seems too strong. I just want to say 'me too.'"

He says Google+ is "Like a tumblr 2.0, but more social."

"I post on G+, and then take the best of the posts to the blog. G+ posts can be more minimal."

"I get more interaction on g+ than on the blog, which is why I made it primary."

"Actually, G+ is my favorite blogging platform, because it lets me direct some posts to the public, and some to my friends."

Google+ isn't the Internet? Google+ "is more internet than Apple or FB, and on par with Twitter."

"I find incredibly compelling content from the people I've circled."

"It's a terrific service. I love G+."

Watching Clay Johnson talk about his book, The Information Diet, which I DVRd off BookTV earlier today.

I read the book, and I'm trying to integrate it into my life.

(I'm typing on my phone, do no links, but you know how to Google.)

Stack Overflow is doing an annual meetup thing, and it looks like I'm the only one in Greater Lafayette that's interested. I suggested Greyhouse, and I'm here. Nobody else seems to be.

In other words, I was trying to write "At Greyhouse" on my phone and it took it as "St Genius". I might have a new online handle....

12 years ago, when I was in school for CS, I knew no adult who was cellphone-only and a good number of students who only used a cellphone. Now, I see people dropping the land-line more and more often.

Now, working in a university lab, I hear students talk about how the only TV they get is over Hulu, or that the only TV they watch is sports. I think there will still be big screens, but laptops have HDMI out.

So, I think the money is figuring out how to stream sports.

This looks so cool. I mean, not that I'll likely need to use it often, but getting you bits and vox through satellite when everything else fails? Cool.

My one comment about the new Plus layout: It works decently when you set your window to half-screen on an HD-resolution screen. Gmail so far fails with this.
