You Had One Job, MongoDBx::Class Documentation

So, after yesterday , I started back with the command line interface to MongoDB. I found I can do what I want with it, which of course is creating, retrieving, updating and deleting records. So, I try working with Perl, my go-to language, and I install Mong...

You Had ONE Job, Mongoose.js Documentation

Source I'm trying to learn Node.js, MongoDB and Mongoose.js as an ORM connecting the two. I don't know what I'm doing yet , going through the early example code. I come to this as a reasonably experienced hand with Perl and MySQL. The first thing people wri...

Data Science is statistics on a Mac.

A data scientist is someone who is better at statistics than any software engineer and better at software engineering than any statistician.

Coming to Terms with Javascript's Not-Quite-Procedural Nature

I'm creating a web application. I've written HTML code on the server before and have decided templates are best, because whatever language, writing code that generates HTML is always worse than making a template that has holes you can fill with your data. T...

+Eric Raymond pointed me to this.

I started with C and C++, but I haven't coded it in over a decade, and except for debugging the result of MatrixX generated C, nobody has ever paid me for C knowledge.

Last I heard, though, was that the players were GCC and EGCS. Obviously we want the best tools, but clearly what best means is different for different people.

I'd be interested in hearing the history of Free and Open Source C++ in the last fifteen years.

Was on Tested's YouTube channel, watching Adam Savage make a box for his beaver, with a slot for the tail and lined with felt, when he mentioned a blog, Things I Won't Work With, which seems like the anti-social version of PIHKAL. Seems like the kind of thing my G+ folk would want to know about.

This is the reason why I don't enjoy interacting on Facebook, in order to have my posts pushed out to people who WANT to see my stuff, it seems like I need to post the most baseline things, like, say, me in a bikini. Or a kitten.

Dumbing down content to actually REACH my fans is ridiculous. If they're following me, they want to see my stuff. I don't have money to pay to reach all my fans for everything I post. And paying for views sucks in general, Facebook. So...yeah. Great video!

I've had Linux on my computers, sometimes at work and mostly at home, for 15 years. But I keep Windows in my laptop because there are things I want laptops to do that Linux can't do. Running the FitBit software is one example.

I can be part of the Linux/Open Source Church, but I try to remember not to hate the infidels.
